I was just thinking about the barge the other day! It has been sorely needed. (It's always sorely needed 😞)

And while we're at it, impeaching the whole corrupt wing of the Supreme Court and getting a Chief Justice KBJ would be the perfect topper to that accountability cake.

Anything related to the courts usurping legislative power, while really important in theory, would be severely undermined by the fact that legislative power has been in shambles for... decades? It would be hard to find someone who thinks "get the courts out of Congress's way" is at all persuasive.

I don't know what the slogan is. There are a lot of ways to come at it, and it's hard to know what will resonate. "We need courts that follow the law." seems like maybe something to me, but I'm probably too bought-in to see it from a layperson's perspective.

As @elienyc.bsky.social keeps trying to point out:
1. If you don't have the courts, you have *nothing*. Any attempt to do anything else worthwhile will be strangled in the crib (see: student loan forgiveness, the entire regulatory state)
2. Republicans have been running on the courts for decades.

Special rules like "if you stop before the light is fully red, the person behind you can go ahead and pull into the oncoming lane to blow through it"? That was the second insane incident in my 18-minute drive through NW Philly this morning. I kind of feel like the "shitty" assessment is right.

Two of my favorite sad songs are covers: Patty Griffin singing "Stolen Car" and The Pogues' version of "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda"

I sometimes find myself arguing for a "the dead have no rights that the living are bound to respect" position. Which I believe, though I will grant that respecting the feelings of the people who remember the dead (which I am for) usually looks pretty similar.

Or incorrectly. Loved for what you mean to somebody else rather than who you are, left always looking for more people to mean something to.
(I'm afraid the news is not good re getting it addressed...)

Every time someone rich and/or powerful turns out to be a piece of shit (so, often...) I reflect on how grateful I am that I'll never have to find out how my own personality would break down under that kind of pressure. It would be a kindness to protect more people from such a fate.

I don't want to "like" this because brain MRI sounds a little concerning, but 100% same. So cozy in there, and I also enjoy the feeling of amazing science happening all around me.

Especially good because passing on the right is bad and dangerous, always pass on the left. (ok yeah that only works in right-hand-traffic countries)

The technological advances that went into making such sophisticated bullshit generators are truly impressive, and yet...

To be clear, I haven't watched it and won't. I'm trying hard to prevent Uncanny Valley Stitch from ever displacing any part of Real Actual Hand-Drawn Stitch in my mind.

TBH I don't know and will hopefully never find out. I've read a few things that suggest it does not, but I get off the train even earlier. The physicality of the characters (especially Lilo and Stitch, but really all of them) is so special, and there's no way it could be recreated in live-action.
