I have been (and am) "hard NO" on Blank Check for Musk.

What's strongest case *for* Senate Ds letting it through? Obviously not Schumer op-ed

Try this by Martin Longman/Progress Pond. (It's a pick-your-poison argument.) I'm still "No!" but it's worth reading.

You may not agree on everything Nancy Pelosi has done, but I will say this she has a bigger set of balls in every man in Congress.

Get the flu shot folks if you haven't already. I had the flu last week and it was easy peasy because I was vaccinated and so was only mildly ill for 3 to 4 days.
HHS has ordered CDC to stop its influenza vaccine “Wild to Mild” media campaign. This is an award-winning campaign that effectively explains how influenza vaccine may not prevent infection but does decrease illness severity. We are currently having one of the worst influenza seasons in 15 years.

What a disgrace
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev seems shocked by how quickly Trump has aligned the U.S. with Russia.

The WSJ reported today that Russian officials “appeared to be caught off guard” by the speed of Trump’s pivot toward Moscow.

I did an event in IN a few weeks ago where I said that on 1/6/21 Mike Pence saved the country (for now) by being one of very very few who stood by his principles under maximum threat.
Dark Pence is back.

To oppose one’s own country. What a strange position for an American to be in. But bcuz Trump/the United States has decided to stand with Putin, I have no choice. Bcuz I stand with Ukraine, NATO & the free world.

Strange, yes. But my country is siding with the invader/dictator. My country is wrong.

“The elected officials in Washington have to stop protesting in Washington. They have to go back to their districts…show the consequences…show the school that isn’t operating…they have to make it real.”

With social media, word will spread to neighboring districts—even red ones.

Liberal society — free people, individual rights, government by the consent of the governed, equality under the law, free markets, peace, and prosperity — is an accomplishment.

It can be lost.

Serious people do not take it for granted.

This is sorely needed @thedemocraticparty.bsky.social
"Shadow cabinets" are well established in UK and elsewhere.

Main challenge for Dems is figuring out who would be the shadow ministers/Cabinet Secretaries.

But it's a necessary step.
Idea going around: Democratic leadership could ASAP name an "alternate" HHS secretary--someone to provide public updates and health information. And "shadow" leaders for other depts too, with press conferences, policy initiatives, budgets, speeches.
