I write a lot of SF short stories. Very hard to find beta readers online. Of course they want you to beta read them but it's all chapter 25 of somebody's epic novel! Writing short stories makes me Odd Man Out in Internet World

I don't belong here. It's a struggle to get images I pick on these postings, a struggle to use 16mm film equipment in my 1980s film school, a struggle in my 70s high school getting my driver's license almost 10 years after everybody else.

Bio: I've been teaching academic writing for more than 25 years. I've also one year was the speech team coach at the community college where I work, and a sketch I wrote got into a play writing contest that was held several years ago,

The guy who tried to overthrow the Constitution being ahead in polls for Nov '24 & whose plans sound very "The Handmaid's Tale" is a Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" level psychosis. 8 billion people in the world. Can't somebody else save Palestine? Americans should be busy with the Trump problem.

I went to a dormitory jr college for my freshman & sophomore years & then transferred to a commuter college for jr & senior years, & damn it, the jr college was High School: The Sequel, wasn't it?

I see Putin is rattling his nuclear saber again at the West. Hasn't he done this before? And the people who attacked us at Pearl Harbor--and who attacked us on 9/11---what happened to them? None of us are immune to the usual currents of history. We live in them.

(Photo by Derick Dolro.) In the 1970s, I attended the same high school my sisters attended in the 1960s. One of their friends dated a girl about 4 feet tall, a "little person." The same sister (a Methodist) was friends with a girl from a family of Wiccans. Was my generation this open-minded? NO.

The police are always going to have to police, of course, & God bless them, but do the rest of us really find the motive behind the Kansas City gun violence freakout mysterious? It's all Trumpist/MAGA/Fox News/Joe Rogan toxic conspiracy babble which has roped in Taylor Swift & the NFL.

Massive rewriting is so much how I work....Like change the title, the ending, and the what's-really-going-on revelation in draft 20. That much rewriting. I believe every work in progress can be saved just like I believe every person can be saved.
