Following that thought: *Very* hard disagree on this take. In both instances you are fundamentally changing how a game looks in favor of a fantasy of how you think it *should* look. It's the sacrifice of preservation and accuracy in favor of "better graphics".

Old games are supposed to look old!

God I hate remaster/remake culture. Losing my mind at how many reviews/comments I've seen that complain about the vertex jitter in the new version of R-Type Delta.

"Wobbly polygons" are part of the charm, aesthetic, and visual identity of PS1 games.

Old games are *supposed to look old*.

RIP Udo Kier.
I mostly knew him from his role in Riget (which I'm fairly certain traumatized me as a wee larva), but I also knew him from the very early era of the Internet where his personal website would greet you with this delightful video:

Other games, such as: P.N.03 for the Nintendo GameCube.

People forget that Vincent existed in Silent Hill 3. He was both "sexy" and darkly comedic in a Jeff Goldblum kinda way.

And let's not forget how the main villain of Silent Hill 4 was basically just a buff version of Kurt Cobain. Sexy in that grunge, Gen X, dangerous-feeling way.

This one looks really close.

I wish they had better pictures of these on their website but look at how cute these little wooden ocarina stands are, oh my god.

I know what I'm annoying my cats with this weekend.

HOLY SHIT THEY'VE GOT KALIMBAS AND UKULELES, EVERYONE.

KALIMBAS AND UKULELES.

Also hey they still have a really tempting selection of Zelda-themed ocarinas for those who are interested. Seems like they hit up nerd conventions fairly frequently as well.

I feel like I'm losing my mind looking at some of these. Lookit this Biblically accurate ocarina.
October 13, 2025 at 5:31 AM
Ah yes, The Grateful Dead. A band known for their... Ocarinas.
October 13, 2025 at 5:30 AM
They're still around and active! Though it seems they've slightly lost their minds.

Sometime between the releases of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, a company called Songbird Ocarinas began advertising in every single issue of Nintendo Power up until the magazine ended in 2012.

Curious if they were still around, I decided to try their website and...

Also this video is just an *excellent* source of great Fabios.

Evolution is such a great little dungeon crawler series and I really hope Sting eventually rereleases them in some sort of definitive collection.
They feel underrated even for Sting RPGs, though I can't say I blame people for disliking how much of a tedious grind they can be. I love 'em though.

I've never seen the movie but I have read every volume of the manga. I think part of the reason why I haven't watched it yet is because it doesn't feel like the kind of narrative that could be compressed into a movie, plus the usual "book was better" concerns. Maybe someday I'll check it out.

...Also what the hell is going on in the GunBuster Fandom wiki?

An ancient Internet meme that still rings true.

Fondly remembering the time the Baroque Frogger mobile game gave me the single most fucked push notification I've ever received.
