You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies, you may trod me in the very dirt but still, like dust, I'll rise.
I see “premature interjection” but I’m picturing him doing something else and I need disinfectant for my brain
Lots of fun stuff in this scoop by Sadie Gurman, Josh Dawsey, Arunda Viswanatha, and Jack Gillum, beyond the ranch with the apropos name:

1) Dir. Patel almost wrecked an apparently genuine investigation into a terror group by premature interjection

In just one week in October, he ticked off his bosses with premature comments about a terror investigation and squeezed in a trip to the ‘Boondoggle Ranch’ on the bureau jet.

Messy data but I don’t think this data says what this implies - it’s good that enrollments remain mostly steady but these students were mostly already enrolled or admitted before Trump’s hatchet to higher ed. The cliff would be this year’s applications and next fall’s enrollments.
The number of foreign students in the U.S. decreased by less than 1 percent this fall, according to new federal data, despite predictions that their enrollment would plummet this year due to a crackdown by the Trump administration.
Trump’s crackdown on foreign students barely impacts enrollment, data shows
About 1.3 million students in the U.S. had active visas in October, down less than 1 percent from a year ago.

This is nuts on so many levels.
For decades, the European Union ran on an unspoken understanding: Germany handled the money, France handled the military.

Now the tables are turning.

Watching a lot of the debating on X between the pro and anti-Israel right and it's really fascinating (in a very bad/sad way) to see the Jewish right and Zionist right in general face that they need to debate against Nazism becoming part of their party.

They missed that Nazis were always there.

The Trump administration is objectively pro-dictatorship, in the global sense.
In September, the Trump administration conducted a historic deportation flight to Iran.

We tracked down people deported on the plane.

Some are in hiding, others have fled the country.
