Predating the OVA and manga designs, Kow Yokoyama's illustrations accompanied LOGH Gaiden in SF Adventure magazine. Here's a few pictures of the 11/1985 issue that includes the first part of The Star Crusher.

Out of curiosity, I checked what two player mode looks like too because I realized I hadn't tried that yet (and it looks like that might be what's in the ad screenshot). Mostly the same but Reinhard and Yang edited together in the intro is pretty cute.

Random thing I stumbled across today, the screenshot used in this ad for the Chibi Chara Game is from what looks to be an earlier build of the board game (last image is from the released version for comparison)

Found some old Mandarake auction listings for cels of character art that appears in the Chibi Chara game. Odd how Poplin's hair color is correct on the cel but instead appears brown in game

Finished the game. I'm not sure how long it'll take me to pull this all together, but I'm planning on a separate post for each disc that will cover both the gameplay and animated segments

So disc 2 is a board game that you need to beat 10 times (5 for each faction) at different ranks to get all the endings. I guess we'll see how long this takes...
