This year’s Noctule 🦇 pups are well developed already, judging by footage from this morning. I originally set up the Secacam 7 so we knew bats were present at a remote roost before setting off on the 1.5 hour drive to monitor them, but the insight into how bats are using this roost is so valuable

The censorship algorithm on Twitter reduced our audience by roughly 95%, and seriously, who does that to a wildlife biology & advocacy group ?
So we moved 😇 over here to BlueSky

Different approaches to hibernation - The Daubenton’s bat has already been resident for a month, the Brown Long Eared bat arrived two weeks ago disappeared for a week then returned this week. Still much to learn… 🦇

Antarctica Day is on Dec 1st each year. It marks the signing of the Antarctic Treaty, which sets aside Antarctica as a continent for peace and science.

To help celebrate, here’s a photo I took a couple of years ago, of a seal which had clearly got the message about peace.

Happy #AntarcticaDay!!
