Outdoors, nature, my own views
Maybe I’ve lost the plot but I’ve decided that the coffee table is going to be wetland themed. Finished drawing it out last night. Started painting tonight. Long way to go. Won’t be to everyone’s tastes but then it’s only us that’s got to like it enough to use it! #upcycle

Banishing any #Januaryblues with my favourite candles, bright earrings, noticing the gradual lengthening of the days, being outdoors & taking some time to relax.

The sound of ice groan at the local reservoir was like something out of Star Trek #icegroan

Is there anything remotely positive about any situation in #USA at the moment? I think the next 4 yrs are going to be a whole new level of 🦇💩🤪

Don’t forget to post a photo of the temperature on social media today, whether it’s a screengrab from a weather app or a photo of your car dashboard (or even from some kind of fancy indoor weather station). Add this “🥶🥶🥶” before you post it, obviously 👍

Awful seeing the wildfires in LA. Just as bad knowing that the poor people of of LA County have got a climate change denier as incoming president 😢

That's how much Big Oil has spent over the last 30 years paying off Congress to look the other way on climate action while the planet burns.

Well, the planet is burning.
Don't let them look away.

Spent some time this afternoon purging my wardrobe. Can’t quite believe how therapeutic it felt! 😂 #clearout #therapy

Making the most of it. Snow angel ❄️👼, snowman ⛄️(with chilli 🌶️ nose in absence of 🥕), snowballs ❄️⚽️ - or from son’s perspective, an hour and a half of therapy pelting us (largely me!) 😂

What do people consider a ‘single parent’ to be? I always took it as 1 adult raising children solo with no input from the other parent. Today, people use the term even if a 50/50 split in parental care. Does that make every service partner or the partner of someone who works away a single parent?

I look underground, overground (unfortunately not wombling free) & at simulated numbers & pictures to try and stop people and places getting wet.

Always amazes me walking round any new development how pedestrian & cycle routes are an afterthought in the initial design. Desire lines more well used than made paths. If we’re trying to move away from cars WHY is this the case? #transportplanning #pedestrians #cyclists

Feels like we’re doing Christmas backwards but the staff @RHSharlowcarr kindly moved our tickets after husbands accident & we went to GLOW tonight. Lovely seeing it in a diff way 🎄✨

I’ve learnt quite a lot about #Hemopneumothorax over the past few weeks. Most notably that trying to do too much too soon is not advisable! Any hints on how to get the husband to take appropriate rest. He’s taken the requirement to be mobile too far! 🙄💊

When people exhibit crap behaviour it’s much better to find some fun in it than get angry. Son won the ‘how late are they going to be’ sweepstake today. 😂

Happy Winter Solstice to all in the northern hemisphere.

The turn of the year's tide, a pivot-point, a day of hope—when the dark stops rising & after which the Sun begins its slow climb back.
A day I celebrate more than Christmas or New Year.

Fiat lux!

This Christmas will be known as the “Christmas that really did creep up on us, despite the fact we say this every year and despite the fact Christmas stuff has been in the shops for months now, it really is next week and I just can’t believe it!” Christmas.
