The revio is an amazing product. The data volumes are in a different league than previous machines. However, cost of the machine limits it to core facilities which unless you have a special deal means that the price per gbp is much higher than it could be.

Revio is a great product - it dramatically increased throughput over Sequel II (3x more data per cell, 12x more data per fully loaded run) and dropped the cost substantially. It's been the most successful instrument launch for the company, and now PacBio sequencing is at an all time high.

The Vega is cool but I would still call it expensive. Not getting one for my home lab anytime soon. Looking forward to see the personal revio released at some point.

Thanks. I generally spend much less time doing any SoMe. A bitter experience to see how easy the science/education community ends up fragmented in multiple platforms breaking years of building connections.

Would love to see some discussions on the next steps for ONT

(Miss a bunch of features on @bsky.app@bsky.app. Where is poll option? You cannot send files in pm. I generally see less interaction on the platform than on the pre Elon Twitter.)
I think ONT has room for more deep pocketed tech bros with ambitions.

I miss our P24 for doing runs like that. P2s are fine but there is something satisfying about the many spots...
