Very interesting. I’m far from the USA so I don’t have much understanding of politics there, but given the tariff situation and Trump, I think there is a possibility for a politically-twisted reasoning for their move. Would you like a link to the full presentation? I can only cover so much in a post

The 45-minute presentation did include a lot of corporate-pleasing words, to be honest.

The platform can be used for more than just a pickup track, for example 2 and 3-row SUVs will also be possible later on, reducing costs so Ford can compete with Chinese rivals generally.

They did not confirm if or when the platform would be global, but the initial pickup truck definitely suits the US market most of all.
