The Mysore magic is still alive, in all our hearts.

Mysore has always been my yoga home, a place where I’ve come to be a students and refill my cup. Change was inevitable this time. And yet, I can feel that there is nourishment here, in our community, in the memory of my teachers who lived their lives here.

Each of these responses requires its own form of strength—a quiet, steady resilience that teaches us to move with life, not against it.

When confronted with seemingly insurmountable challenges, the instinct may be to push harder, to fight with all our might. Yet, this approach isn’t always the answer.

True strength isn’t always born from force; it often requires an unexpected softness, a yielding quality that allows us to adapt and persevere.

What is Sadhana to you?
January 26, 2025 at 12:33 PM
Daily practice aimed at the revelation of the highest truth in our lives, our highest potential, burns away of impurities such as the ego and other obstacles that may occlude or otherwise hamper our ability to see clearly.
January 26, 2025 at 12:32 PM
Sadhana is the sincere effort that we make on the spiritual path. It is a disciplined and devoted activity that requires skillful action.

There’s so much that I just don’t know, so much that has been thrown into a whirlwind of change. Maybe the dust just needs to settle after the storm.

I realize it’s a privilege to be able to retreat into peaceful abodes in times of distress. But maybe sometimes that’s what we all need, like a wounded animal needs time to heal, or when we are sick we just need to rest.

What is your sanctuary?
January 25, 2025 at 2:24 AM
Thankfully there are still sanctuaries of relief. All I feel able to do is retreat into these pockets of peace.

Whereas in the past I have felt an urgency to do something, to speak out, to organize, to take action, right now I feel a kind of paralysis, maybe something like shock. So much feels like it’s in a downward spiral— personal, professional, national, global.

There is so much chaos energy swirling around so many things that I hold dear. It's an exercise in non-attachment just to exist, let alone resist.

When is the last time you practiced for six consecutive days in the traditional Ashtanga yoga method?
January 24, 2025 at 11:41 PM
After a full week of teaching, I'm enjoying the rest day!

So while yoga asana is not all there is, we should not take the power of asana for granted. There is so much to be gained from getting on our mat with consistent practice over many years.
January 24, 2025 at 12:14 PM
Over many years of yoga practice we may even begin to penetrate into the innermost teachings and discover timeless truths within ourselves.

My teacher emphasized the importance of dedicating years to asana practice, allowing the more subtle aspects of yoga to emerge naturally. As our practice transforms us and yoga works its magic, we will naturally gravitate towards the deeper dimensions of the spiritual journey.

Yoga is so much more than asana.
And yet, it is asana that is so often the foundation of our journey.
