Huge fan of “Breaking Bad” and Vince Gilligan. I like Rhea Seehorn. But “Pluribus” has been a slog so far. Carol is unsympathetic as a protagonist - a drip. Seehorn plays her with a level of anger that makes her really unpleasant. And the conceit leads to a lack of dramatic tension and conflict.

Asking my Senators to vote for new leadership; either Chuck Schumer cannot whip votes, in which case he's useless, or he is fine giving up leverage for nothing, in which case he's worthless.

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

Yup, heads Republicans win, tails Democrats lose
Utterly bizarre to describe climate change policy as some kind of radical-left albatross.

The IRA contained precisely the kind of 'kitchen table' programs everyone says Democrats should focus on — and they're popular!

The problem was that Americans *didn't know* what the IRA was or who passed it.

So he’s the most unpopular president in recent history, by far. Why does the corporate media coverage not reflect that?

Credit to @nytimes.com for this hed and subhed. Clear, blunt description of how deeply counter-productive and wildly erratic Trump's gyrations on China have been and why it's so absurd for the administration to be hailing the latest "breakthrough." I don't get why this is so rare.

Reagan was like Joe Free Trade. He and Thatcher are the avatars of the neoclassical economics resurgence, trade liberalization, etc. good or bad this is pure reality. The idea that this conversation is even happening shows how much we’re in the mad king 2+2=7 world.
Trump: "They cheated on a commercial. Ronald Reagan loved tariffs and they said he didn't. And I guess it was AI or something. They cheated badly. Canada got caught cheating on a commercial. Can you believe it?"

It’s remarkable how Trump has instinctively followed a fascist/authoritarian playbook since 2016. Attack the media, then universities. Target minorities as the enemy. Assert control over the military. Threaten opponents. Co-opt business. He’s not a student of history, but he’s hit every mark.

It’s definitely not, and could never be, the Epstein Ballroom, and you’ll never hear me call it the Epstein Ballroom, that’s for certain.
Why does everyone keep calling it “The Epstein Ballroom?” Please stop repeating “The Epstein Ballroom” because it is not called “The Epstein Ballroom!” Don’t tell the news that it’s called “The Epstein Ballroom” and please don’t repost this!!!!!

If the decision-makers at the @nytimes.com cared about this, they’d make it a front page story for days.

You couldn’t ask for a better or more engaging visual metaphor for the fact that Trump is demolishing the democratic rule of law and establishing an authoritarian state.
Breaking News: President Trump is having the White House’s entire East Wing demolished to make way for his $200 million ballroom. The project is far more extensive than he initially let on.

Democrats should be drawing up legislation right now, this very minute, to bar Trump from helping himself to $230 million in taxpayer funds from DOJ. Challenge Republicans to hold a vote on it. Push this so hard in the media that every GOP Senate and House candidate is pressed to comment on it.

billionaires should not be allowed to exist because the downside of "one of them loses their mind" is simply too dangerous for a functional society

also, having a billion dollars tends to make you lose your mind
The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

Well said
The entire "free speech on campus" moral panic was manufactured to blackmail us into making space in intellectual life for bigots and charlatans who couldn't get there on their own merits. Its a DEI scheme for fascism. Congratulations to everyone who took it at face value.

The @nytimes.com coverage of the protests yesterday is disgraceful
Those with sharp eyes might detect a subtle difference in NYT play last month of an event in one city, w 100,000+ attendees, versus play this morning of some 2500+ events w many millions of attendees, in all 50 states.

See if you can spot it! /s
