Finished my first painting in a while
A square painting writing a white bevelled frame. The lower half is gold which has been worn away in places to reveal a sky blue colour, done using spray paint to achieve a flat effect. The upper half is mostly black and dark blue acrylic, highly textured and glossy, with lots of parallel ridges and rectangles. In the upper middle, slightly to the left, the texture has been highlighted in lighter blue and small touches of white. The upper right quadrant is dominated by an isometric drawing with black line work, blue shadows and yellow highlights. It depicts an apparently fragmented piece of land jutting out into space on which there are a number of buildings. In the lower right of the land is a suburban house with a slide and swing in a garden. Close behind it Is a school building in a 1960s style with a row of poplar trees in front. Behind the school building is a factory, connected to the school by an elevated walkway. Beyond the factory is a grassy plain on which a small tent sits with a campfire. Not far from the tent is a chicken wire fence apparently cordoning off a mysterious monolithic monument with a hole in it.

A square yellow post-it note with a black marker doodle on it. The doodle is in a square frame. Across the top, slightly inset, is a label-like box with a map on the left, a large stark checkmark in the centre, and some paragraphs of pseudo text on the right. In the bottom right, slightly inset, is a small vertical rectangle resembling a QR code. The main scene is some kind of research or military base in a hollow at the foot of a black rock mountain. It consists of two concrete structures with doors on either side of the space along with a tower with a radar dish on top. A walkway joins the roofs of the buildings and provides access to a cave partway up the rock surface. In the lower left of the image is the edge of some body of water, a lake or river. A small pier just out into it. On the bank next to the pier lies an upturned motorboat. Two mesh fences close the installation in on either side between the base of the mountain and the water.

A square yellow post-it note with a black marker doodle on it. The doodle is in a square frame. In the upper left corner is a sort of label with a C large X dominating the top two fifths, some pseudo text in the bottom left and a vertical bar chart on the bottom right with one tall bar shaded dark to indicate Ann exceeded threshold. On the right is a vertical bar running almost the height of the frame divided into eight squares. The squares get progressively darker using hatching from an empty square at the top to a black square at the bottom. The main content of the image, over which the previously described parts are overlayed, is a mysterious isometric scene. The back part is dominated by the pebble dashed facade of a large brutalist building. The ground level has a wide open entrance with apparent sliding metal door. An upper level towards the top of the image is exposed with large supporting concrete pillars and industrial metalwork and machinery of indeterminate purpose. There is a dark rockface on the left of the image which the building is apparently built into. In front of the building is a chicken wire fence about 10 meters away with two large gates which have fallen and are lying at angles on the ground. The gate is in line with the building entrance. The grass has grown tall but is still shorter around some l large vehicle tracks which lead to and through the gate to the entrance. To the left of the entrance is a small graveyard with six graves, rough mounds of dirt with simple headstones.

Excellent day out in the former Karl Marx Stadt.

Went to a Munch exhibition, saw some fossilised trees, and checked out this amazing statue of the aforementioned hero

Removal means shoving a screwdriver through a near-40-year-old sticker, but needs must…

Lesson learnt, I started asking sellers whenever a potential candidate showed up.

Several months later not only did I find a seller who actually responded, they were friendly and even took an additional photo for me!

Wrong! The ratio of silver-chested to gold-chested Grooves is not what I expected, and it turns out often that the former have been photographed in an unintentionally deceptive light, like junker number one here:

Finally, we’re ready for the story of how Defensor got his Groove back

This one is only very mildly yellowed, you can barely even tell when raising his arms. Negligible chrome wear. No stickers. No accessories. Most significantly though, barely any paint left on his chestplate.
