I think some take inspiration from other properties like Innistrad or Eldraine. Where obvious hat sets are more gimmicky.

I think this is very helpful in deciding how you are making decisions, but not as much why. Isn’t the why the most important?

As the number of midrange decks have increased the life for card ratio has gotten too high? Good question.

The four wings is a subtle but cool aspect that really makes them feel otherworldly.

I don’t feel like we see many cards like this nowadays. I think it’s an interesting design space. Take a really powerful effect, make it repeatable, but add additional costs until it’s fair. I like it.

Does seem like it should have some mana symbols for the gems or something like that.
