Yesterday I spoke at the Coventry Counts Dead Women Vigil about my own experiences of familial abuse. 💔
Speaking out matters—it may help another woman find strength.

We remembered 97 women killed last year by their partners.

Great to see Baroness Smith of Malvern, and Minister for Skills, at @coventrycc.bsky.social Job Shop.

She visited in response to my request and saw firsthand the exceptional work we do — from delivering quality training to working with partners to provide a holistic approach for our residents.

Got emotional at Stories That Made Us – Roots, Resilience, Representation @the-herbert.bsky.social Seeing South Asian's history in Coventry was incredibly powerful, especially as my great-grandfather lived here during WWII.

It was a joy to visit Joseph Cash Primary + talk to parents about smartphones in children's lives.

We also spoke to pupils who articulated so eloquently the good + harms smartphones can do, a reminder of how perceptive young minds can be given the space to reflect + share.

Today we celebrate Diwali — the Festival of Lights. It marks the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil + wisdom over ignorance — a timeless message that resonates as deeply today as ever.
To all celebrating in Coventry + beyond, warm wishes from my family to yours 🪔

Going to university changed my life, from meeting lifelong friends to getting my 1st job as a software engineer.
Couldn't have gone without a grant.

Others too will have the same opportunity.

This is the difference a Labour Government makes.

Out for Earlsdon street surgery this evening — great chats with residents about local issues. They raised:
🚗 Inconsiderate parking
🚌 Local bus services
🚫 Anti-social behaviour

Big thanks to Miles for the photo👍🏽

Earlier this evening I joined others to remember the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at Coventry Cathedral.

The messages were of world peace with elimination of suffering.

I chatted with Earlsdon residents, pupils of Lyng Hall @taiwoowatemi.bsky.social as we placed our paper cranes of peace.

Fabulous!
It's a special moment when a co-operator, as a Minister of State, gets to introduce new legislation that fulfils such an important priority of our movement.

Here's our Chair, Jim McMahon, on why today's English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill is so crucial. It's why we're in politics.
