And not to be outdone, the guitarist duets himself and we have a hit.

Tiktok can be the best sometimes. Too bad Trump is going to ruin it.

Slop used to be a term that was specific to a specific set of new media pieces aimed at churning a feeling of discontent using fascistic, far-right leaning ideology as the paddle. It has ballooned past its origins to encompass many things.

The same thing has happened to the term "enshittification.

Our fortune of birth has limits though. This prosperity is *because of* the inequity/unfairness in other areas of the globe. People highlighting this aren't necessarily consumerist grousing. It can also be that they are aware of this expiration date, driven by a lack of sustainability & exploitation

I love this paper because it shattered my priors: I assumed HDHPs were materially bad for low-income folks with limited liquidity, but also that they probably "worked" to some extent for people who are wealthy and savvy (people who see HSAs as retirement savings vehicles).

I was wrong!

As the ~discourse~ seems to bend interminably towards Republicans trying to figure out how they can (further) HDHP-ify ACA coverage, it's worth revisiting what is probably our best (most rigorous) study on the effect of deductibles in health insurance.

The authors find that the entirety of reduced spending — because HDHPs *do* reduce spending — came entirely from people seeking less care.

They weren't adept at distinguishing "high" and "low" value care; they scaled back all forms of care.

So yeah, Schumer is fucking awful. But there’s enough Democrats supporting this debacle that it’s obviously more than a one-guy problem. The party that consistently presents itself as the only bulwark against fascism keeps surrendering to fascism.

It makes sense from the perspective of safeguarding portfolios and little else.

I am trying to avoid the usual pull of doom and dread today w/r/t our political landscape, but these things do make it difficult.

I'd argue it's not supposed to be a "good" idea.

It's supposed to be the culmination of a decade long effort to eliminate the ACA.

These guys are constantly saying that Dems need to abandon identity politics and run on kitchen-table issues. They get the most kitchen table-ass candidate imaginable, spend months saying he's secretly radical, then as soon as he wins they say he's secretly moderate.

It is good to measure things, observe results. But holding them up like sacred cows that will always show the full picture isn't really...wise? And I know *you* do not personally do that, but the discussion is trying to point out the dissonance between high performance and economic hardship.

There's no reason for political actors (including individual citizens) to wait until they have full details to make their voices heard! If you're inclined to call your Senator...you should, and now! Just saying...

Locals know that you're full of shit if you try and claim to have been poor AND that you lived in or around Shadyside/Squirrel Hill/etc.

Bari Weiss is dishonest, hollow, and utterly full of shit.

Oh, this is wild.

DOJ went to SCOTUS *before* we got the First Circuit's administrative stay denial. (We know this because DOJ just filed a letter at SCOTUS about the admin stay denial.)

So, DOJ went to SCOTUS b/c the First Circuit did not meet its less-than-seven-hour "deadline" for a ruling.
