The book provides a very *economics*y framework for figuring this out--maximizing your unique utility function. Tuning out both the "Girlboss" AND "Trad Wife" messaging to find *your* "Having It Almost," as this article describes.

In her new book Having it All, Corinne Low outlines how stubborn expectations around work and home fail to accommodate working women

this is a post where you (yes, YOU) can and should reply with underrated comic strips or other comic-y jokes. could be an unheralded entry from a classic strip or maybe a lesser-known strip altogether.

A bad thing is unfolding at NIH this week: It looks like the Trump administration is trying to replace key civil servant scientific leaders, the Institute Directors, with political hires. These directors control the NIH budget, tens of billions.

Tax switch is good idea

Equalise CGT and income tax

Remove tax relief from wealthy pensioners

Tax land / expensive property

Criminal justice reform, so no need to build new prisons

Let asylum seekers work

Put some of money raised into pockets of people on low incomes

@stellacreasy.bsky.social
This gives context to this proposal, which would significantly improve progressively.

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

Here are my three truths about climate:
1. We fail if we don’t end free-to-pollute fossil fuel model. Period. Game over.
2. A crash looms, prefigured by collapse in home insurance/mortgage markets.
3. There are true villains in the story, and we have to tell it that way.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 81st day out of the last 93.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

You can understand this shutdown with 3 numbers.

15M — the number of people Republicans want to kick off health care

20M — the number of people Republicans want to 2x health premiums for

0 — the number of times Republicans have called the House back to reopen the government

More are united around a simple message: RFK Jr should not be HHS Sec. His decisions undermine our public health capacity and put lives and health at risk.

As 6 former Surgeon Generals argue:

"He has rejected science, misled the public and compromised the health of Americans."

2025: $228
2026: $1142

She will lose $704/month in credits because of GOP cuts to health care.

This is a crisis. We cannot wait to fix this.
