Are podcasters like Hasan Piker the next French resistance? With traditional media silencing freedom of speech to protect the Orange dictator, it sure feels like it.

It seems Susssssan Ley thinks Australia should welcome politicians who call for the eradication of a population just because their country elected them. I guess she would have welcomed a certain German in the 1930s ...

Our government might be allowing US beef, but here's hoping all Australians boycott it. Be like Canada - don't buy American.

These damned colonizers just can’t quit trying to exploit Africa.
“Maximum Pressure”: The State Department conducted a monthslong campaign to push a small African country to help Musk’s satellite internet company, records and interviews show.
Here is what we confirmed: After Musk’s rise to power in the U.S. government, the State Department has repeatedly coaxed, lobbied and browbeat this tiny West African country into giving business to Musk’s satellite company Starlink.

The inimitable Jon Stewart just summed Trump up in the best way I have heard yet - a temporary Leprechaun. He has downgraded the US from exceptionalism to merely striving for great.

Dutton "you haven't seen anything yet" on the campaign trail. You're right, we've seen nothing, certainly nothing positive. I think he could leave out the "yet". #auspol

So the LNP has promised to rescind a tax cut and add to unemployment. Is that considered a vote-winning strategy?

For the past 6 weeks I have been emailing and calling my Labor representatives at least once a week, begging them to look at how Canada has responded to Trump. At least, Albo seems to be waking up - a buy Australia campaign is a good start. #keepduttonout #auspol

The tariffs introduced on Australia are good news, I think. Finally, the gloves are off and Albanese can tell voters how dangerous a Trump-lite Dutton would be for Australia. He can remind voters that Dutton cares more about Trump than Australia. Time for flamethrowers from the ALP

I despise Fox News, but every now and again I pop on there to see if they are actually reporting anything resembling reality. Not one word about the tanking economy on their front page. Hopefully Rupert will meet his mother soon and James and sisters can dismantle this atrocity.

I find myself in troubling agreement with Malcolm Turnbull. Why are our leaders in Australia being so weak? They need to stand up to bully boy Trump!

Germany goes to the polls on Sunday. I hope German voters wake up to what a far-right government would do to them - it would sell out to Russia and leave them with nothing. Perhaps the sell-out of Ukraine will be a wake-up call to some German voters considering AfD!

My cautious, non-conspiracy theorist husband said today he doesn't trust the polls saying Trump's approval is at 53% since the media organisations are so hellbent on not upsetting the orange dictator that they wouldn't dare say anything to upset him. He may be right!

I know there's a lot of reason for Americans to despair, and I feel for you (fortunate here in my Australian bubble), but I think Ezra Klein is right. Worth reading his column (New York Times):

If the FBI is gutted of experienced professionals, whose watching for likely terrorist attacks? I'd say the US is more vulnerable than it has ever been in its history, even more so than before 9/11. I don't know if Trump and his cronies are just stupid or willing the destruction of the US.
