A dear deer, stretch-snep model. Lots of nerding, tech, and furry stuff. Sometimes NSFW. Always anxious.
That face when a small city (South Pasadena) accidentally sends a test alert to the entire County of Los Angeles as a Shelter In Place warning.

Don’t do that.

Y’all. I did it. I went to one of the lax Rax’s Roast Beef restaurants in existence. You can, in fact, eat there.

Random fun fact of the night: Honeywell, the company known for making thermostats, also builds and maintains the US Nuclear Weapons Stockpile.

“The Future is What We Make It,” indeed.

Waiting for @ellenteapot.ca to confirm that the aliens are in fact from Tampa Bay.

Per the engineering docs, the clearance envelope from railbed to OCS is ~22 feet: www.caltrain.com/media/32825/...

Vehicle envelope for the Stadler’s is 18 feet, and you need a minimum of 12-ish inches of clearance from the 25Kv line.

Personally I’m a fan of King County Metro’s signage design, though its purpose is slightly different. Still, the tile based design is flexible, easy to adjust, and easy to maintain. It also solves the “one bus stop with 8 different agency sign styles” problem.

Turns out they do grow corn in Louisiana.

Gorgeous train, though it’s a shame the Cafe car doesn’t have the gorgeous backlit map of the Puget sound in its ceiling like the older Talgo’s had.

I took this course for my 24th birthday, all the way back in 2013, and it was a fantastic and deeply informative experience that was key to my transit advocacy in the years after. If you can do it, do it!

Spending Another night in the flaming ruins of the liberal hellhole that is Los Angeles, where my insanely high taxes mean I was forced to *take a free shuttle* to a *gay concert* that *only cost $2* for me and my partner to attend.

We came early, and brought a picnic.

It’s always so funny when scammers try and scam you but have ZERO idea how your state handles things, how it cites its legal code, what it calls the department responsible for such things…and does so from the Philippines.

@metrolosangelesbot.bsky.social did this like 3 years ago and it was awesome.

Also just in case you were wondering how LAPD feels about their performance during the protests recently, these are the ads they’re running on Reddit right now:

People being all “it was just a few bad apple cops” while LAPD is running ads like this on Reddit as if the two aren’t connected

They look damn good at brunch too…

From an @metrolosangeles.bsky.social bus driver on Reddit: ICE may be targeting transit busses in LA. Metro’s Bus Operations Center sent this alert to drivers yesterday.

Have some important reminders from the @aclusocal.bsky.social , though note the Mobile Justice CA app no longer exists.

There’s something deeply ironic about the LA Law Library preemptively closing on the day of the No Kings March because they expect protests.

(Aside: Law Libraries are amazing and I love that we have one here in LA! It’s a great resource, and I don’t blame them—closing lets their staff help others!)

Do not play around with wildfire smoke. It can seriously mess you up in ways you wouldn’t expect, and its impacts can last well after the air clears if you aren’t careful.

If you don’t have a HEPA filter at home already, build one - it’s cheap and easy!

The last time this happened the Pope called a meeting so all of Christiandom could watch as its author (Arius) got slapped by Santa Claus, exiled to Palestine, and all his books burned. It was so epic they made paintings of it, plus an entire creed people still recite today.

So embarrassing.
June 5, 2025 at 10:16 PM
Y’all, the Council of Nicaea already figured this out. You can ask Santa Claus (aka St. Nicolas of Myra) about it! He was there, and got so mad about this exact heresy he slapped its biggest proponent (Arius), helped git him excommunicated, and commemorated it in a fresco:

And, derp, shared the wrong photo. This was the PBS Warn data for the erroneously sent alert:
January 10, 2025 at 12:29 AM
Very much seems to be in error. PBS Warn shows targeted to the area around the #kennethFire, but the message text has both Evac Order and Evac Warning messages depending on if the phone supports 90 or 360 character WEAs.

The staff at LaCo OEM have to be *exhausted*, and a mistake was inevitable.
