201/ Snake Eyes

At the time I think all I'd seen of Cage was The Rock, Con Air and Face/Off so this was a big change.
A ★★★½ review of Snake Eyes (1998)
Teenage me failed to appreciate the craft and got frustrated by the slow pace of the story. Now I get to enjoy the cinematic efforts more fully.

📽️ 200/ The Princess Bride

For my 200th flick of the year I had the pleasure to introduce @dionisea.bsky.social to The Princess Bride ☺️
A ★★★★★ review of The Princess Bride (1987)
I wish I could have seen this when I was a kid.

Never fails to be better than I remembered.
A ★★★★★ review of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Captain Jack Sparrow has the best character introduction in the history of cinema.

I have recently started working with a therapist. It's been helpful so far. Dealing with work stress is something I think we need to focus more on though.

Meditation has been a big help before but I don't know why I'm so resistant to it at the moment.

I need to make more of an effort though because last week wrecked me.

I have a soft spot for Driven. It's nonsense but I like.seeing Stallone drive around humming to himself.

It also correctly predicted that drain covers would be ripped from the ground if they did a Vegas Grand Prix.

It's a film that works better the less you know about:

F1
Motor racing in general
HR policies
Normal human interaction

📽️ 198/ The Running Man 🍿

So weird to see your hometown on the big screen being used to depict a dystopian future! 😄

Wembley Park stood in for the exteriors and entrance of the TV Network building, so it was a little distracting to keep spotting intimately familiar locations.
A ★★★★ review of The Running Man (2025)
So the weakest Edgar Wright movie is still pretty frickin' good. Does a great job of honouring, and updating, the original but struggles with the ending because of obvious parallels to real life event...

📽️ 195/ Frankenstein

This looks stunning in HDR. The lighting throughout the movie is spectacular.

I had put Mia Goth's strange accent down to being a Yank imitating a Brit but it turns out she is actually from the UK 🤷‍♂️
A ★★★★½ review of Frankenstein (2025)
Sumptuous visuals, although I have to ask if the monster was deliberately styled like the engineer in Prometheus. The pace felt out of balance, spending a lttle too long on Oscar Isaac and not enough ...
