Yesterday, I fondly remembered my dear friend Leonard Nimoy, who would have turned 94. His legacy lives on in our hearts. Just days ago, Bill Shatner celebrated his 94th birthday — wishing him continued health and happiness. Live long and prosper, my friends.

Really feel like I’m losing my mind: government OBVIOUSLY cannot punish an individual law firm for hiring someone it disfavors! It’s ludicrously unconstitutional and I feel like without a day of law school I could argue the case. And yet the best paid lawyers in the country are folding?

There are many wild things in Trump's EO about History but one that especially caught my eye was the complaint that the American Art Museum promoted the view that "race is not a biological reality." It's not! That's a true statement! The idea that race is biological was the foundation of racism!

The federal government is attempting to dictate to a private university which departments it may have. If this flagrant first amendment violation doesn’t lead Columbia to grow a backbone and sue, I don’t know what will.
I’m told this is a real letter. It basically says, “We’ll destroy Columbia unless you destroy it first.”

It's clear Chuck Schumer is not cut out to lead the senate Democrats. There needs to be a vote of no confidence and he needs to be replaced with someone willing to fight. Trump and Elon are dismantling democracy while Schumer whines and capitulates.

This alleges that she had overstayed her visa. IF that’s true— and I don’t at all take that for a given — then a person in that situation has very few options to remain other than seeking asylum or another form of relief (if relevant) once placed into removal proceedings.

If Tesla's stock drops far enough, the bank loans Elon took out to buy Twitter lose their collateral and get called back immediately.

Which is why Elon is panicking, Trump is panicking, and their shadow backers are all panicking.

Since it apparently needs to be said: As a Jew who works on a university campus, I am safest in a country that protects academic freedom and liberal values of due process of law. Anyone who supports extrajudicial detention of students for "wrong" ideological opinions is not doing it for my safety.

Thrust into unemployment, axed federal workers face relatives who celebrate their firing
Scrambling to replace their health insurance and to find new work, some fired federal workers are running into another unexpected unpleasantry: Relatives cheering their job loss.

I think about this a lot, especially as I’m teaching college students, these days.

Sometimes the point of being alive is the people we are alive for. Sometimes we have to be each other’s reason and trust that doing so will lead us to other reasons.
My 22yo keeps asking me what's the point of being alive.
She's not loving that there's so much work in it.

Whoever did this is going to get in some very serious trouble (potentially even serious criminal charges given who's running the DC US Attorney's office right now), but you can't deny that's a pretty good prank.
This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source.

Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

The official policy of the United States of America is that having values or believing in the rule of law is the equivalent to having a fetish for watching your wife get nailed by a stranger.

That’s Trumpism.
Can't imagine where they got the idea, but earlier in the week, the White House comms director posted (and then reposted) this.
