I don’t always listen to Led Zeppelin, but when I do, so do my neighbors.

Raised by a single mom, brother with serious cognitive issues, no money, shitty clothes, bad teachers — but had an amazing group of friends who basically saved my life. Every hour away from the cacophony of school was a blessing. Things got much better after graduation.

This whole conversation reminds me of the description of Mod culture in mid-60s London: “Clean living under difficult circumstances.” Listen to/see “Quadrophenia.”

The menace in Trump’s Voice as he pointed and leaned toward the reporter, hissing, “Quiet. Quiet, piggy” was chilling. That she and her colleagues just stood there dumb is baffling. Did they think if they protested, he would throw them off AF1?

Only 4 of the 14 Weimar governments had SPD chancellors (3 between 1918-1920); the center-right and nationalist parties largely refused to govern with the”November Criminals,”; the KPD allied with the Nazis — blaming the SPD (which made mistakes) for Hitler is a discredited conservative deflection.

Thousands of SPD members were imprisoned, tortured, exiled, and killed, starting in 1933. Reichsbanner, trade unionists, and KPD fought and died in the streets against the Freikorps, Stahlhelm, and SA. They were very, very far from “pussies,” pussy.

The instrument Fascism used to create the totalitarian state was authoritarianism; not all authoritarian regimes are fascist in structure. For European historians, the term for the latter, influenced by Marx, was “Bonapartism,” exemplified in France under Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (1848-1870).

It was Mussolini who first used the term “totalitarian” to describe his Fascist state.
