But what is actually wrong with the houndskull-looking one? Is it how the eye slits are too droopy? It does feel off but I don't know enough to articulate why

Does sci-fi count as non-fantasy? I've been on a Martha Wells kick lately (murderbot) if you're looking for something recent, and Andre Norton is a pretty safe bet for more classic stuff

I keep seeing awful things and am tempted to respond, but I know I'll want to block anyway so I just do that. Another case where perfection is achieved through subtraction, not addition
