Gotta be the Scopedog. Armoured Troopers are the perfect scale of mech, just barely larger than powered armour and small enough to sit down in the bed of a kei truck

Almost? The center of circle touching all four points of a trapezoid is found at the intersection of lines drawn perpendicular to the midpoint of each side. Interesting that the bisected interior angle fits pretty close on your example, but that method would only work perfectly on a true square

As soon as I posted I felt a deep sense of wrongness paranoia so I checked with different proportions and it still works!

Ok I got the last one wrong because I was thinking as a carpenter and these are definitely all pure geometry like you said. So this time I fired up the ol' architectural drafting software and I think I got it? See if this procedure works for you:

Then you sweep out an arc at 2x radius and repeat for the second circle, using that instead of the centerline. For the third circle probably just draw a horizontal line from the center of the second? Sorry that this is all out of order

Usually gets you there within 3 operations? It really isn't very mathematical but it does give consistent results and only takes a few minutes.

It is a proportional way of making (very close approximations) of arcs, and they definitely would have been doing it. It's about ~97%? accurate so at scales under 8' you won't be out more than a millimeter or two. You can make it more accurate by doing it recursively as well
