such views come from the moralistic dogma that equate any drug use with drug use disorders…
In a #trauma documentary, when referencing Adverse Childhood Experience categories, they said "alcoholism or drug use." But those aren't equivalent. Alcohol use and other drug use are equivalent. Alcohol use disorder and other use disorders are equivalent. #harmreduction #addiction

if only it is understood that drug use disorder is a chronic relapsing condition where interventions need to be in response to the needs of the person.. plus drug treatment is not an on and off switch #harmreduction #publichealth
The high failure rate of #addiction treatment isn't always due to the individual not wanting to get well. Another interpretation with strong evidence is that the treatment offered too often isn't tailored to the individual or supported by evidence. #harmreduction #recoveryposse

The drug war is a known failure, but that didn't stop 88 Senators from voting to advance a bill to double down on failed criminalization strategies for the opioid crisis instead of proven public health ones. www.senate.gov/legislative/...
