But like I said, it's a minor nitpick to me, and moreover... Inventing a new vernacular for fiction is difficult and time consuming and so I mostly give these shows a pass on that.

Right. But modern 21st century vernacular and modern 23rd/24th century vernacular sounding the same bugs me. I'm not at all convinced they'd sound the same 🤷♂️.

Sure. Absolutely that makes sense. I'm just a bit resistant to any of it sounding TOO much like modern American vernacular. Although a character that loves the past like Tom Paris could be an exception.

Former bartender here. Knew several owners (rich) who would come in to cosplay this guy. Just ended up being in the way until they got bored and started drinking with the customers.
