I’ve been enjoying the effective images created by More Than a Cyclist to dismantle the othering that happens between different transportation users. There is no “cycling community” or “driving community” as our society is too complex to be contained in two boxes.

It has been a privilege to work alongside pelvic floor physiotherapists to advocate for more equitable care for postpartum bodies, to bring more awareness to challenges that are coupled with stigma & shame and to work towards impactful outcomes for those suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction.

Perfect for catching up with regional colleagues or just catching the sun at the park. Where will your first ride take you?

If you haven’t yet, check out @coachbalto.bsky.social’s amazing bike bus videos. Seeing kids joyfully riding their bike to school as a group is inspiring. Check out this webinar next week with @penalosag.bsky.social and see how a bike bus can happen in your community

This was a delightful surprise on the bike ride home today. Spotted on the E&N trail just up from the Langford/Colwood border.

We have had some misinformation floating around about Langford’s priorities on safe routes to school and our readiness for the opening of SĆIȺNEW̱ SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ Elementary. Not only are the sidewalks ready to go, the walking trip is a huge improvement from last year.

Yesterday we got a sneak peek at the 1st building on the new John Horgan Campus opening in just a few weeks. It is an exciting evolution to Langford City Centre and will be transformative for the community. The learning spaces are beautiful and I can’t wait to see students and staff here soon!

That must be an older photo. The trees are looking a little bigger and fuller these days. I love The Atrium.

Yes! Victoria Bike Rave is putting on an exciting event right here in Langford to close out the summer.

We brought our 11 year old to the event in Victoria last weekend and she loved it. With our bike/scooter share, there are lots of ways to participate. It should be lots of fun!

Couple things flagged right away,
1. We now have a Federal BCH (Build Canada Homes) and a Provincial BCH (BC Housing)
2. Cutting DCCs in half should make everyone nervous as these charges are already reviewed by multiple levels of government. They are not frivolous & take affordability into account

Something really fun is coming to Langford before the end of the summer and I can’t wait to share more about it!

West Shore Parks and Recreation offers a 1/2 day skateboard summer camp just for girls and it is a super inclusive and positive space for all skill levels. Programs like these can open doors into communities, have life changing impacts and are just a whole lot of fun.

The City of Langford was proud to support the Esquimalt and Songhees stop of the Tribal Journeys, Paddle to Elwha. Yesterday, Indigenous canoe families from across the west coast were welcomed on the shared traditional territories of the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. 1/2

This is my favourite place in our backyard these days. I’ve noticed the black ones stick around the latest, well after the others have gone home to bed for the night.

Agree! Councillor Wagner always has thoughtful questions to contribute. I’m very proud to work alongside her on the CRD Regional Water Supply Commission.

The 2SLGBTQIA+ community has been life changing for my family. Though it feels largely celebratory, Pride is rooted in protest. Continuing to take up space with love and acceptance means there is no space for hate.

Pride in Langford and across the entire CRD is beautiful and worth marching for.

Be kind to each other.
Take care of each other .
Be humble and take the time to make amends when you have caused harm.
Be caretakers of the future of our communities.
Most of all, love each other.

Happy Canada Day

Langford does a great job of reducing red tape so great new additions are attainable. This does not mean we are paving a clear path for anything & everything. A new focus on High-Quality city-building sets standards that guides dense urban development so it is livable, sustainable, and well designed
June 28, 2025 at 12:06 AM
The 4C’s approach establishes a hierarchy to direct the desired land-use mix to the City Centre, Urban Centres, Corridors, and Complete Communities. The “body heat” established by focused density & people-centred planning will create a vibrancy in the City Centre that will echo throughout Langford.
