My signs for the day!

These massive cuts across SPED, Rehab Svcs, and HHS are sending us back to the Dark Ages.
I was in school before SPED existed. Sometimes I wonder what choices I'd have made if I'd had access to language and support earlier in life. While I can't go back, I can go forward.

Hey Deaf Writers! If most of your books include Deaf/deaf/hh/db characters but are in different genres, would you use different pen names? I'm writing women's fic, SFF, and fairytale with Deaf/deaf characters. Suggestions? #Deaf #deafwriters

I saw @rachelrkolb.bsky.social, author of Articulate, last night at the Harvard Square Bookstore for a book signing. The event was inspiring and informative. A quote from her book resonates: "Good speech is a trap." 100% agree. I haven't read her book yet, but I will!

It was great to see so many people protesting yesterday. But, I was sad that in our region people protested in towns far from their homes since they feared retaliation.
A Trump supporter drove by our protest yesterday, yelling "idiots!", while driving on a flat tire. Hmmm.

Does anyone recognize this quote and know where it comes from?

"A Deaf person who's open to wearing a hearing aid to see what they might experience and a hard of hearing person who's okay about taking off their hearing aid show their acceptance of who they are in the world."

Those of you who wear hearing aids, do you ever take them off and just go, "Ahhh"?
I'm researching stress and hearing aids. It seems that most of the lit focuses on hearing aids reducing stress. I think while they can help, they also add to stress. What do you think? #deaf #stress

One of my favorites!
Sow more dandies!
'Dandelions,' was painted by the Danish artist Bertha Wegmann around 1910. It wasn't an arbitrary choice of a plant to paint: the dandelion was used to promote the women’s liberation movement in Scandinavia because of its capacity for uncontrolled, strong-willed growth.

Someone proposed penguins be the mascot for the revolution. I second it!

Senator Booker just broke Thurmond's record on the floor. He said he was there despite what Thurmond tried to do because the people stood up for Civil Rights.
If Sen Booker can stand for 24+ hours on our behalf, we can protest until we get back our Democracy.

Cory Booker is amazing. I admired him before, but today --- wow. I hope his words inspire more of us to stand together Saturday. #resist #protest

These days, on so many levels, I feel expendable.
She's right. It ain't gonna work. And it makes me wonder at what point people will even realize there's a knot to untangle.
The enraging thing is we won't be able to stop any of this shit until nondisabled people realize the murder of disabled people *is the point* (or, rather, one of several points), but they refuse. It's like trying to untangle a giant knot but refusing to touch one of the strings. Ain't gonna work.

Exactly. Thank you for saying this so beautifully.
Keep resisting. Regimes count on the death of imagination, because it means the death of hope.

With the new administration attacking DEI, what does this mean for DEI writers? I'm currently querying a novel about a Deaf artist. Will agents and publishers think twice about publishing something written by a Deaf person with a strong Deaf main character?
Will book banning soon include all DEI?
