One evening a couple weeks ago, my daughter grabbed the BCP and proceeded to read the entire liturgy of the Eucharist to us. She knows a lot of it by heart now.

When she was done, she closed the book and said, “I’m the Anglican of this church!”

Sharing for those who need a good laugh in these times. Another fun theological convo my girls initiated about Mary today.

“So, God has a mom?”

Me: “Well, yes and no. Jesus has an earthly mom.”

“But Dad, Mary’s in the Apostle’s Creed!”

😂One thing’s sure, they're firm on Jesus divinity. He’s God!

@acskillern.bsky.social has a great immune system. Which also means, when sickness hits our house, she gets stuck doing a lot of the hard work, especially caregiving for our oldest.

Watching her do the unseen work, the work our Lord sees, is just one of the many reasons I love and admire her.

I preached on Luke 4 yesterday, when our long-awaited King comes to the synagogue, reads from the prophet Isaiah, and addresses the people. We talked about being born again through faith and baptism into a new people, and what it looks to be his unique people in our time, set apart from the nations.

My six year old said to me this morning, “Dad, is God one God in three persons?”

Me: Yes

“Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?”

Me: Yep, exactly!

Then off to finish some cereal. Just a casual morning convo.

I think more significant for me than the New Year was the beginning of the Church year, as this Advent at our church plant was our first Advent back in a proper church setting since before the pandemic. What a testament it is to God’s faithfulness to our family this past year. Happy New Year friends
