New Census data reveals rising poverty among older adults—over 9 million seniors (15%) live in poverty, with rates higher in communities of color. These aren’t just stats; they’re our parents, grandparents, neighbors, and keepers of our culture, all deserving to age with dignity.
Seniors are the only age group with growing poverty. It could get worse
Seniors are the only age group that saw a rise in poverty in 2024, Census Bureau data show. Without government help, it could get worse, experts say.

It'd be the largest cut to Medicaid+CHIP and SNAP in history while still increasing deficits by $2.4 trillion due to $3.8 trillion in tax cuts

This'd be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history

California is projected to see the largest number of newly uninsured of any state — as high as 1.7 million — and that’s based on the previous, less draconian version, so that number is likely higher.
Can’t believe California House Republicans are gonna eat this bill and its cuts to Medicaid and the ACA — there’s even some extra punitive stuff for CA on provider taxes and penalties for current coverage.

The increased number of uninsured and the budget hit to California will be devastating.
