veilguard redesigns based on headcanons and details i find interesting. i was going to add more to these before i posted them but working on this frequently made me remember why I'm on such a high dose of effexor. reposted because i forgot neve in my alt text sorry queen
lineup of the main characters of dragon age: the veilguard. Taash's full dragon scale armor has been scaled down to light armor, with traditional south asian clothing under the scales and rope. Emmrich is wearing a very fancy north indian inspired outfit, including a purse with a ribcage design and gold plated bones. Davrin is wearing an angular overcoat and beat up splint mail. Undearneath the armor there's a small glimpse of the sleeve of a light linen shirt with a delicate clover pattern embroidery. Neve is dressed modestly in a fantasy-style vest and an afghani-inspired tunic using white, gold, and cyan. She has a cyan headscarf wrapped up in a turban side bun style. Lucanis, still dressed in blue, black, and purple, is wearing a wide brimmed hat with a crow feather and an overcoat. Think bloodborne but sillier. Bellara is wearing bulkier clothes with an ikat-patterned overshirt. She also has a diamond-shaped monocle with multiple magnifying lenses. Harding is wearing very practical white and brown climbers gear, with the exception of a brightly colored tartan draped over her shoulder and pinned back like a cape. She also has an orange cap with a tall feather pinned to it and light facial hair, modeled after a woman with PCOS.

ive been thinking about what kostris been getting up to before veilguard
four drawings of the same qunari character with accompanying text. his outfits are loose and comfortable with warm colors and a south asian influence. red shibari-style ropework is featured as a belt or chest harness in each outfit. In the first and third drawings, he wears an ornate silver patterned prosthetic with a hook at the end. In the other two, he goes without a prosthetic. text reads: 2 years post canon: Gathering research on both Tal-Vashoth and Qunari history, Kostri is preparing to open a meager camp for new Vashoth to learn life skills. Over time, it slowly gains additional buildings, including a library. Attacks on his life are frequent. Most assassins are talked down rather than defeated. He frequently butts heads with local treasure hunters, but gets off easy because he has charmed many local elders and authority figures. 5 years post canon: The Qunari center has become a hub for intellectuals in Rivain and beyond, making advancements in science, math, historical theory, and magical studies. Tensions are high with the Ariqun due to their fringe teachings and radical politics. The center is defended mostly by ex-antaam. Kostri is forced to take a diplomat role, similar to his position in the inquisition, as many fear the military might of his allies. 8 years post canon: Kostri is named Basalit-An after restoring diplomatic relations between Seheron and neighboring nations, starting with Rivain. The Antaam are preparing to split off following these drastic reforms. Assassins have stopped hinting him, so he has allowed himself to relax. A bit. He has elevated several people in his community to leadership roles to avoid the cult-like following he was beginning to amass. Veilguard: He is now a well known and respected diplomat, semi-retired. He split amicably with Cassandra. They are now as close as two friends can be, and she is rumored to be having a passionate affair with the Divine. He still wears the title of Bas with pride.

formally introducing Mumtaz Ingellvar, my best friend, my gay aunt, my primary care physician, my silly rabbit,
Mumtaz Ingellvar. An expert on necrosis and disease, contacted by Varric after he heard about their work researching the effects of the blight on the body. Mumtaz was one of the only survivors of a disease that ravaged through their clan at an early age. They jointed the Mourn watch as a young prodigy with a single-minded focus on Necrosis and wasting disease. No one else dared to touch their research for fears of being contaminated. In fact, few touched Mumtaz- they have died many times from the risks associated with their research, and they've come back a little different every time. Their clan was nomadic before they became the victims of the mysterious disease, travelling across the Tevinter/Nevarra border twice a year, following the rain. As members of their clan began to fall ill, their movements were restricted to a much smaller region in Nevarra. The lack of access to Tevinter's traditional medicinal plants exacerbated their struggles. Mumtaz was one of the only survivors, and enacting the funerary rites of their family inspired them to travel to join the mourn watch. A collection of sample outfits showing their style. They are an older pallid dark-skinned androgynous elf with frizzy loosely curled black hair, usually worn up in a messy bun or covered in a turban-style scarf. They wear gold jewelry and black eye makeup and they have Falon'Din Vallaslin (heavily simplified). They wear loose garments with ornate embroidery in the traditional mourn watch sacred colors (bone, bruise, decay, and blood). Their hair is covered in some of their outfits, but not all of them, and only some of the outfits are traditionally modest. While most of the outfits lean heavy into fantasy influences, the embroidery is mostly persian-inspired, incorporating traditional Jajim patterns. Their primary outfit is comfortable workwear in green and purple with a heavy-duty rubber apron and brassy golden mortician's tools. Most of what you would hear about Mumtaz are unsubstantiated rumors before you even meet them. They don't bother with many friends to tell the truth to. Rumors include that they play with the forces of entropy like a child with fire- any moment it could turn on them, or that they haven't seen the sun outside the necropolis in a decade, or that they were cast out of an academic institution for misconduct. Another would say that you could buy illicit materials from them or that they were guilty of laundering money and tampering in the financial business of the dead. You may hear that they don't remember their family anymore; only their burial sites, or even that they're using blood magic to attempt to create life. "some crazy old elven shite, like the tevinter magisters", they whisper. The most outlandish claim of them all? The claim that their age has granted them wisdom. Everyone knows them for one thing- Necrosis, and their research reflects that. Mumtaz excels at forcing swaths of enemies to wither, fester, and crumple, but even outside of combat, they do extremely dangerous work. For better or for worse, they ahve cracked a small but powerful secret. When they place a small amount of living tissue in a dark chamber with large amounts of lyrium and perform a ritual, sheets of healthy tissue begin to grow off the mineral like a sort of fungus. They have successfully grafted a patch of skin and a new kidney into themselves using this method. Surprisingly, they have yet to reject. Mumtaz has very few social skills, but their casual attitude and dark sense of humor have charmed some. They are very close friends with Neve and Taash. They clashed at first with Lucanis as their petty squabbles were difficult to mend, but they came to a mutual understanding over time and even began to joke with one another as Emmrich bridged the gap by talking to spite. Speaking of Emmrich, they're attached to one another like glue. They have encouraged him to pursue Lichdom, and despite his mourning, he is happy. Mumtaz is currently editing their will to leave most of their belongings to the newly crowned Lich. Everyone else is sick of them. They're super sappy. VEILGUARD SPOILERS!!! They never clicked particularly well with Harding- she's optimistic, idealistic, and has a natural affinity for life. When she discovered the subject of their studies, she stopped speaking to them. They weren't speaking when she sacrificed herself. When the room is quiet, the lyrium whispers to them, and it sounds angry.
