Yes, but part of that is that their Ward CM can run and not have to give up their seat.

Once again, the Mayor's office is sought by a CM from a Ward with an off-cycle election (Ward 4).

Yeah, I've always thought driverless trains were easier to do than driverless cars, and so I won't expect to see the latter until the former are completely standard.

The party/person who gets the most votes should win the election!

Thanks. Just to add, one value of the SNAP extension is that if Democrats do decide to shut it down again in February, it won't be SNAP recipients who pay the price.

...position in Feb. ("We know we can't just 'take your word' on this - and so do the voters." b) It gives Democrats another thing to run on. "When my Pa ran the local feedstore, his bond was his word and a handshake promise was an unbreakable contract. That's how I see it, but not my opponent..."

I'd argue that: 1. Even if true, we got 5 because SNAP has been funded for a year, GAO has been protected and the federal workforce punishment during the shutdown was rolled back.
2. If Thune reneges on the deal, that is good for Democrats because : a) It gives them a stronger negotiating...

Dick Durbin is #2. He voted FOR the deal. LOL.

Counterpoint - Trump didn't win. Democrats did.
November 13, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Who cares how many SNAP beneficiaries get ground up in the gears of this war.

Democrats don't even know when to see a win as a win - which is what this deal is.
November 13, 2025 at 2:28 PM
There were only 5 ways this would end:
1. Republicans cave
2. Republicans get rid of the filibuster
3. Democrats cave
4. A new government comes into office in 2027 or later
5. A negotiated deal

We got #5. Isn’t that the best reasonable outcome?

I would love someone to game out for me a realistic, but more effective path forward for the Senate starting on Jan 20, 2025. Like where would we be if the leadership made the choices you prefer?

Bette Davis was the bad lady from “Return from Witch Mountain”.
November 11, 2025 at 4:35 AM
Obviously that wouldn’t be the message.

Sign the government down wasn’t working. It wasn’t going to work. Why would you demand that they do something that will not work.

How was making hungry people starve standing up to Trump? Winning the elections in the fall IS STANDING UP TO TRUMP. It's one of the few things he actually cares about.

If D Senators are the enemy, then you've lost the thread.

I can’t imagine they would break, and if they did, Trump would’ve vetoed it.
