Inventor of worlds both unlikely and inevitable. Creator of complex humans and monsters of all kinds. Not beholden to any genre writing where the whims lead.

Currently working on a gritty litrpg and a gritty dystopia. Balance right?

This is just the worst. And I won't be doing this (I love Elizabeth and Dekka too much to leave them stranded)

I have a small collection of old books. I love this idea that there are memories of the people who have enjoyed them (or had the texts foist upon them in the case of the school books)

Had an interesting discussion today on writing. A person claimed the only way to write literature was to never care about how a reader would read it.

I think art is a conversation (albeit tending one way) between art and artist.

One does not exist without the other.

Just dropped my new fiction. CYtC is a high-concept sci-fi masquerading as a darkly funny litrpg.

Find it on Royal Road.

Doing research for the sciency bits of Dreamherders (my dystopian novel) And I remembered this wonderful bit of Journalistic History

The Scientist in question had written 'we' throughout the article But he hadn't had a partner. To fix it he claimed his Siamese cat, Chester was the co author.

Another fun bit word shenanigans. 📝

Caretaker and Caregiver. Taking is the opposite of giving.

But not here in English. Here they mean pretty much the same thing.

I'd like to posit a new word: Carehaver. When you have care but can't/don't do anything about it.

Writing focuses you on in on phrases in a new way.

Take losing weight.

Losing it? I put it down somewhere and now can't find it?

Or like you dropped it and ran away hoping it can't find you. Like in a car chase where the protagonists are trying to lose the bad guys?

Writing YA paranormal means asking yourself some real serious questions like:

👻Schrodinger's MC, is she dead or alive?
🐺Would werewolves gossip?
🐱Is cat food safe for human consumption?
📰How many secrets can a small town reasonably have before someone calls the news, or Buffy?

My biggest critic.

He's also my cutest critic.

Deep in the trenches of writing. Pushing for that 75k word goal! 💀🖊️ Supernatural chaos, questionable food choices (looking at you, cat food, MC not me) and and teen love.

For vibes, I’m rewatching Buffy. Nothing says inspiration like 90s fashion, quippy dialogue, and a little monster slaying.
