Yup, same question here. It’s why I’ve held off from joining the pitchfork-and-torches brigade heading for the Senate. I just don’t think we know what really happened, and while we may never, we seem to spending a lot of energy—w/o a full account—torching our side while the GOP regroups and digs in.

There are other reasons. The GOP base is smaller than the Dem base and far more homogeneous. Dems are adult and transactional, we can trade part of this for part of that. The GOP worldview is apocalyptic and doesn't allow "give" on much. And finally, they are addicted to conformity as such.
