We should learn less about this war or that war, and more about war as a human activity. We can learn about how humans practice religion, organize governments, create art. Why don't we want to teach students about how humans try to coerce each other by killing? To be annoying: it seems important!

Over two centuries of scientific analysis have yielded a fairly coherent and digestible theory of war. From Clausewitz to Fearon, you can easily put this into a high school textbook. There's no excuse for the people to be kept in ignorance of war, by their choice or not.

But the old axiom remains true that "you may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you." Warfare is perhaps the most extreme of human activities. You can't just disassociate yourself from it because it is morally heinous. War is also not unknowable.
