Product management, fintech nerd, tinkerer, camping/hiking, bbq, cooking, former founder, geek, audio engineer, ex-pastor, husband, dad, speaker, leftist, Missourian. Not necessarily in that order.
Took a bit of a hiatus from posting here and got sucked into TikTok because I really like video production and short form is fun. Looks like that will soon be a hellscape so I'll be back here with a video centric account.

The brief joy of tax loss harvesting has completely worn off the more opportunities I have for tax loss harvesting.

Started my day by very nearly screaming at a staffer because he’s “not sure if the senator has an opinion” about the tariffs.

In other news, I’ve started to use shame as a logical strategy when talking to the people answering my calls. They should feel shame for this.

Paused some other reading today to start The Last American Roadtrip by @sarahkendzior.bsky.social and I’m quickly three chapters in, reminiscing about similar trips with my kids, and planning the next one.

If you haven’t picked it up, highly recommended.

What I admire most about Cory Booker speaking for 25 hours on the Senate floor is that it was substantive, policy focused content. He and his staff put in the work to do it right, without pointless fluff.

Watching Cory Booker and glad to know that someone is exhibiting the type of leadership we need.

Listened to my congressman’s virtual town hall which amounted to prescreened questions and blatant lies. The YouTube chat was the beat down he should have received. MO-7 deserves better than Eric Burlison who is too chicken to meet his constituents in person.

We got our first chickens during the pandemic and haven’t purchased eggs since they started laying. The egg stockpile had dwindled from short days, cold weather, and molting - it’s nice to be getting four eggs most days.

If you're curious how to support Ukraine, my decision was to donate to United 24. Also decided to purchase a Ukrainian flag - made in Ukraine.

As long as our government is being dismantled, human rights are being ignored, and we’re turning on allies to cozy up with dictators flying the flag upside down seems appropriate.

Continuing the effort to reduce Amazon in my life. Tomorrow will be spent setting up a Meebook M8C primarily for reading but possibly also note taking. #booksky #meebook #ereader

A Monday night mystery: If we made 18 muffins, I had one, the boys had three, but only 10 remain — where did the others go, papers and all?

Not the only action I'll be taking, but supporting the work of the Internet Archive seems more important than ever.

A staffer this morning asked me if my calls were going to be a daily pattern. My answer: yes, until he takes seriously the oath he took to the constitution and reclaims article 1 power to check an out of control executive.
