I wrote some things and grade papers for a living.
Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, Big Blue Marble, 3-2-1 Contact, and Reading Rainbow all played a hand in my education when school became overwhelming, confusing and loud. Thank you, @pbs.org

After a thoroughly stressful day, I got out the good stuff and a favorite mug to mark the end of an awful term and to remind myself that I’ve now a few weeks to get the real work done.

I don’t write for you. I write for them.

They won’t stop taking up space, shouting in my head until I listen.

Then I do the work. For them.

I just wish they paid more and offered benefits. 😒

Reception was set at a Texas hill country “resort” inspired by the Texas hill country “resort” where my little sister was married.

The quotation marks are fiercely intentional, thank you very much. That place was ghastly.

#HorrorWritersChat question 2:

Describe a time when you used a real setting in a horror work, or a time one of your story settings was based on a real place.

P.S. Don’t forget to include the tag when reposting!

(and that's me out, Louise @moonlitwriting.bsky.social is doing the other two Qs)

CONFESSION: Every once in awhile, it is so difficult to remain cool and collected in this industry. There are times when anger and envy threaten to upend everything I’ve worked hard for.

It’s hard to shut it all off. 😒

😒 I love it when supposedly well-meaning people tell you to stop being stressed, to just relax and take it easy, like it’s merely an on/off switch you have control of. 😒

The Ushers are such awful people, and I’m totally enjoying their violent ends.

You know…I should keep a checklist for the Poe nods.

Having to go to work and being expected to resume normal duties while still sick is yet another example of how awful it is to be a worker in the U.S.

I love reading collections where each and every story sucks me right in.
