There are few better places to visit on a wet winter's day in Glasgow than the Kibble Palace glasshouse in the Botanic Gardens. As well as being a marvel of Victorian engineering, it's got a distinctly tropical feel to it, even when it's cold and rainy outside.

Glasgow's has been found to be the best city in the UK to raise children. Yes, it's a survey by an estate agency (so make of that what you will), but it's interesting to look at why the city came out top.
