Definitely enjoyed Edgar Wight’s take on The Running Man more than the original. It’s tough when you know the source material doesn’t play it nearly as safe by the end, but after The Long Walk, I’m not sure if I mind. The cast and the action were solid, so I’ll give it points for that.

I had never seen the original Running Man before, and decided to check it out last night . . . Even by 80s Schwarzenegger standards, it’s kinda rough. This is arguably some of the worst dialogue of any of Arnie’s films, an inexcusable flimsy plot, and kinda cheap.

I appreciate it for the wild swing! Very little of it actually works, but it’s genuinely trying for something we don’t see in terms of sci-fi/fantasy that mainstream films in North America don’t even try for. Also nice to see Arly Jover as the de facto villain!

This the kinda shit takes me back to my days going to high school in Montreal back in the 90s! We got all the house/eurodance type music that was growing in popularity up there, so this and Rochelle’s last album really spoke to me. AND she’s doing more with #Kaytranada, so this album got me like:

Why am I only now finding out #RochelleJordan put out a new album! I LOVED #PlayWithTheChanges (and honestly it coming out the year before Beyoncé’s #Renaissance had me side-eyeing folks who treated that album like some kinda revelation) #ThroughTheWall is just another solid effort! 🎶🇨🇦🇬🇧

Really been looking forward to #BlackPhone2, and it did not disappoint. The focus shifts to Madeline McGraw’s character, and she is nothing short of brilliant. Mason Thames still has plenty to do, and there relationship as brother and sister is the true core of the film.

Not as good as Payback, but not nearly as stupid as Parker, Play Dirty is still a fun mix of Shane Black’s sensibilities as a filmmaker with the brutish charms of Richard Stark’s signature crime noir character. A solid cast and a surprising blend of comedy and violence. Very 80s inspired.
