In a surprising turn of events, MGM Resorts is trying to attract Vegas locals to the Strip by offering a special deal at the Wicked Spoon buffet in Cosmopolitan. Just $38 per person every Wednesday from 8 am to 2 pm, for up to four guests, with valid Nevada ID.

You know you work or worked at Amazon when you are helping your friends and families with solving something and you begin with “Let’s work backwards from the desired result.”

At Least I don’t ask anyone to begin by writing a six-page narrative.

My instant reaction everytime I see a Tesla Cybertruck?

What an eyesore!

My first trip back to Seattle since I left AWS. And of course, it is cold and wet. Meanwhile, back home it is warm and sunny.

Does this mean we will all have to retake our anti-bribery training? 😏

The AI bubble was inflated based on the idea that we need bigger models that both are trained and run on bigger and even larger GPUs. A company came along that has undermined the narrative - ways both substantive and questionable - and now the market panicked that $200bn got wasted on AI capex
Can someone explain it to me like I'm stupid?

If I was the rest of the World, I would call Trump’s tariffs bluff. When prices jump here in the US and the next mid-term elections come up, Congress will be squealing.

Las Vegas Metro police will not engage in mass deportation roundups, according to LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill.

"Officers will not stop and question, detain, arrest, or place an immigration hold on any individuals on the grounds they are an undocumented immigrant."

My thoughts on why people should stop using the phrase, “The Cloud is just someone else’s computer.”

It’s cold (relatively) and blustery in Nevada. Good time to wear my vendor merch. Looking forward to adding Pure storage merch to the mix.

My opinion is the use of KMS isn't that important here. The most valuable precautions and mitigations you should take don't change just because KMS is used in the attack, so I wouldn't focus on that aspect of this story. Focus instead on securing the S3 bucket and your credentials.

I enjoy AWS's lack of standardization of region naming by using cities (Zurich), states (Ohio), parts of states (Northern Virginia), countries (Spain), and parts of countries (Central Mexico).

Fair point!
It's that it's so small and it's low performers is what makes this worth a piece -- people hear word of layoffs and assume it's large and primarily financially driven.

If we don't write about it, we get accused of covering it up. So, sometimes we have to point out what seems obvious to others

Observations from week 2 so far #PureStorage in the new gig:

1) The onboarding process feels more “human” and “personal” than at Amazon.

2) It’s a joy to not have to use Outlook/WorkDocs/Quip/Chime
