Just had my PICC line removed. Markers have dropped significantly so no more IV antibiotics. 🥳

I still need my leg dressing changed every three days as its looking rather 'meaty' but at least the infection has taken a battering.

I'm exhausted both mentally/physically but I'm on the right path.

With a whiff of convenient plotting and General Francis 'Exposition Dump' Shaw keeping us up to date with what's going on, I'm still enjoying IT: Welcome To Derry.

Episode 5 skulked about in the sewers and really made me want to reread the book.

I woke up at 4am and just finished binging The Death Of Bunny Munro.

Outstanding.

Poignant, upsetting, brutal, heartbreaking. I felt like I'd been hit by a train by the end.

Bright Horses 😢

I've not read any of Nick Cave's work before but think I'll have to correct that

I refuse to believe this was a decade ago!

Thank you to those that have reached out to see how I'm doing.

I still have chronic cellulitis/clots and thrombophlebitis.

I'm on strong IV antibiotics daily plus other medication.

Treatment seems to be working although I'm in a fair amount of pain and feel mentally battered.

@davidmbarnett.bsky.social has darkened the Kendall Reviews door with his new folk horror novel 'Scratch Moss'

David is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors.

Published 5th March 2026.

Check out Withered Hill & Scuttler's Cove both of which have the Kendall Reviews seal of approval.

A huge thank you to all who reached out regarding my recent medical misadventures.

I'm now back home.

I still have to continue daily IV antibiotics for at least six weeks with additional treatments every three days.

A gloriously old-school ghost story that I found mostly enjoyable. The climax did kinda go on and on.

The secrets were revealed a little heavy-handedly and why didn't any of the countless people Ash spoke to say something?

The best thing about it was Herbert's writing style.

Morphine, antibiotics, and a cup full of pills by 6am.

Good morning, fiends.

Mrs. K brought some books up when she visited me today.

100-degree temperatures and a morphine based cocktail of drugs might make for an interesting experience. 😆

I hope I don't sit up in bed in the early hours declaring 'I see dead people'
November 9, 2025 at 7:00 PM
Still in hospital sadly.

Temperature is still occasionally hitting 40 and pain levels are brutal once I get to the end of the morphine window.

They say I can only have the drug every four hours yet it noticeably stops working after 3.

The staff (day and night) have been brilliant.

I've been in hospital for a few days now. I have some blood clots, thrombophlebitis, an infection and a temperature that keeps spiking to 103.

Tonight is my first night in a bed after 'sleeping' in a chair. The bliss of a bed and morphine 😍

Bookpost from a dear friend has certainly helped cheer me up.

Here are the first in a series of Stephen King 50th Anniversary hardback reissues.

The Shining is planned for release in 2027 with The Stand and Night Shift both scheduled for 2028.

As someone who's essentially housebound, I can't wait to finally watch @realgdt.bsky.social's Frankenstein.

I'm looking forward to adding more to the Eric LaRocca collection.

It's time to introduce myself to James Herbert's paranormal investigator, David Ash.

Will all of James Herbert's books get reissued?

I'm assuming they won't all get 50th Anniversary Editions as that'll take until 2062

I'd love a full bibliography reissue with matching spines and fonts.

The Hunting Party: Episode 2

There's a seed of a great idea here, but it's incredibly cheesy in execution.

Conveniently plotted with daytime TV acting and production.

I'll give episode 3 a chance 😆

I guess these books would be considered the reason why I read horror.

I believe I discovered James Herbert's 'The Rats' when I was about 10. 😲😆

Darcy Coates looks to tick a lot of boxes when it comes to all things spooky and supernatural.

Any fiends read her work?

It looks like she has published around four books a year 😲

Which would you recommend?

My early morning PS5 session saw me complete Alone In The Dark.

A 'survival horror', which isn't scary, has to be this games biggest sin.

An enjoyable enough experience but clunky combat and repetitive puzzling means I'm not going to replay as Emily immediately.

6/10
