Trump thinks he IS the law. He posted this because he thinks it supports his position.

Wasn't it an active DOJ investigation? You don't release files of an active investigating. That's a norm you don't break. Frankly, Trump made a big mistake by ending the investigation. He could have used the excuse for years.

It is. A lawyer is ethically obligated to do his/her best to serve his client in a particular case. The DOJ serves the people. By omitting salient and relevant facts, the lawyer is committing ethics violations. But don't expect consequences for this.

Maybe I'm missing something. Doesn't it just say the MPD can do what it already is allowed to do (and I'm seeing aside the obvious point that the MPD doesn't need Trump's permission to do it)?

I never go beyond the first two words of every headline that begins "Trump says....". There's no point. He says many things. Half are crazy, the other half are untrue.
