I grew up in Ashland,KY which feels more rust belt than Appalachian, but is located squarely in Appalachia. My mom was born in Patrick, KY, mostly raised in Circleville,OH, moved to Ashland at 19, then Lexington KY, then Columbus OH. I’m not trying to defend him but the lines are blurry in that area

Came here to say this too. I hate the narrative of “one way” for Dems to go. I do think the thing they have in common is retail politics. Go out and meet and talk to as many people as you possibly can.
