In an act of resistance against Trump, the Smithsonian pushed back after the president claimed he had fired Kim Sajet, director of the National Portrait Gallery. “All personnel decisions are made by and subject to the direction of the secretary, with oversight by the board,” the institution stated.

We favour collaboration over individual effort. Open source software allows people to collaborate in a way that is more difficult with proprietary code. This is vital for the cultural memory sector to govern its own domain. #opensource #digipres #archives
