I wrote some books, once upon a time.

Posting about stories, brain injuries, adorable animals, rhubarb recipes, nature facts, human rights, and how we can make this world safe and kind and good. You are precious to me, and I love you.

I flew away from Nepal last night. Oh, my friends! What a wonderful country. The mountains are exquisite and the people are the kindest, most present, most openhearted in the whole world.

Now Im in the airport in Tokyo and you won't believe who I found!

"Don't pet the dogs you meet on trail," they said.
"Seriously, Kelly, don't pet that dog," they said.
"Hmm?" I said, as I totally pet that dog.

I'm leaving for Nepal next week, but I had to take care of some business before I fly away.

Yes, I voted for @dewayneforminneapolis.com as my first choice, along with Jazz and Omar as my second and third. And yes, I voted for @aurinmpls.bsky.social to continue as my excellent council rep.

My son writes a newsletter called Queering Catholicism, that I enjoy very much. I somehow missed his piece on St Francis last week, but it hit me today right in the center of myself. If you have a minute, it's worth your time.

She still is unclear on how to actually play with him. She knows he's not a dog, so wrestling is out. Still. Attempts have been made

Accidental Cat update:

I honestly never thought that my dog would ever accept a cat in the house. But now. Look at these two dorks.

This is worth a read.

It's amazing what a secure home and regular meals will do for a half-feral cat.

Our Accidental Cat is settling in quite nicely. Here's a classic "how it started/how it's going" where you can see his transformation from street urchin to a dapper man of letters.

Good morning, Boundary Waters!

Okay cat owners, I need some help. The Accidental Cat seems to have some sort of eye infection - weepy, squinty, a bit puffy. Still eating like a champ, pooping and peeing normally. And I don't think he notices it - he's not messing with it and he still wants to play with his toys.

In St Cloud. In a sew of hawaiian shirts.

The Accidental Cat and the Soulful Dog aren't buds, per se, but they definitely tolerate one another. It helps that they have shared interests.

Just discovered a volunteer apple tree growing totally wild in the Minnehaha dog park.

Update on our accidental cat - he's settling in quite nicely and has informed me that he's ready for his closeup

I went to the State Fair last night to see the Indigo Girls and found myself sitting two rows behind this fella - @governorwalz.mn.gov

I think he smiled the whole time and sang along and definitely knew all the words. So nice to see you Mr. Walz!
