Interesting read about Daphnia evolution after rewilding of stickleback. The paper is part of a larger collaborative research project on ecology & evolution post reintroduction. I did 3 field seasons on another sub-project examining effects on gut microbiome of stickleback.
Experimental rewilding of stickleback drives phenotypic shifts that oppose long-term evolutionary trajectories in Daphnia in Alaskan lakes https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.10.15.682675v1

“Maybe most painfully, she said, her freezer full of subsistence food — walrus, seal, fish, birds, berries — is spoiled.

That food represents “a lot of hard work,” she said.”

Just created a stickleback feed so it’s easy to see what other Bluesky users are saying about stickleback in one feed. The post just needs to include the word stickleback in it, even if it’s just in image alt text.

Found an old photo of this polycephalic threespine stickleback egg that was in one of my clutches a few years ago. Polycephaly means having more than one head, in this case with two heads the stickleback is considered bicephalic. This defect happened prior to any experimental treatment. #stickleback
