I did this tutorial sorta thing for my bestie to show how i go about drawing snouts on animals since she was struggling. Idk if this is any helpful to anyone else but i’ll still share anyways lmao.
Tutorial like sketch depicting the stages how i go about drawing canine snouts/heads. 1. Notes written in order: start with a circle (head). Arrow pointing to a L/V shape on the left part of the circle with notes saying: this is the equivalent to the bridge of a human nose. L or V shaped. 2. Notes written in order: Fill in the forehead (working your way from the L/V shape bridge nose structure). Adding a either very square/boxy or rectangular shape for the snout as they usually tend to be boxy/rectangular in shape. 3. Notes written in order: Added nose + ears, these generally tend to be triangular in shape in the nose’s case it can also be diamond shape. Eye was also added but the shape of the eye can vary. 4. Notes written in order: The previous shaped now form a sorta “skeletal” structure consisting of triangles, rectangles/squares and circles, from here you work your way to start shaping in the canine in this case a dog (likely doberman). Breaking things down to basic shapes helps you understand how things work better. Ultimately use references. Same tutorial but its a 3 step on and a cat is being used for this. 1. Cat also starts with a circle for a head along with a much much shorter rectangle/square snout since cat’s have a smaller mouth/snout. 2. Ears are still triangular but the nose can be a oval like shape or another diamond or even small triangle shape. 3. Lastly work from those shapes and start filling in the cat’s head. Cat’s necks are also shorter than canines.
