Why, as an Irish person living in the UK, I am suspicious of people with posh accents. I assume they got to positions of power through privilege and connections rather than merit. Burden on them to prove otherwise.

Amusing that he thinks Tiny Tommy is a hard man, rather than a little goblin who does not go anywhere without bit burly backup.

I think that before starting a large military procurement project the French government requires the producer to demonstrate that there is an export market for the equipment, that gives an incentive to keep it affordable rather than gold plated and unaffordable. Also encourages economy of scale.

Well, that is definitely a deal breaker. Bet all the other candidates can recite chapter and verse of Plato and Immanuel Kant among others.

Interesting thread but puzzled as to why the references below the line are almost exclusively to the US Constitution which, when enacted, had no problems with slavery. Comments would be more useful it they referred to other more recent common law constitutions: Ireland, Australia, Canada etc.

Any chance we can stop calling them "strikes" and just say "Israel has bombed Gaza"? "Strikes" makes it sound targeted in some way rather than the indiscriminate bombing it actually is.

That cannot possibly be an actual photo, seriously, tell me it is AI generated....I know Reinhard Heydrich looked dapper but there are moral issues in copying his dress sense.

Ireland has citizens assemblies for considering changes to the constitution. They are governed by statute and those present hear from experts on all sides before a decision is made to proceed with a referendum. They gauge the appetite for change and narrow the question. They work well.

The "elite" can always find a way to profit from any crisis, ordinary people more likely to suffer. Sadly incentive trumps empathy.

With the Greens offering such a positive message and gaining from it puts further pressure on Labour to drop the nastiness and put something out that will actually appeal to the decent people (which I like to think are the majority).
