We just got in our bookstore the new 'weird girls' books on Vintage, which is a horrendous title for what looks to be very interesting novels. Sample cover. Will see if there's any artist credit when back after lunch.

Screenshot of BBC news top stories. Not picking on them, exactly the same stories are top of Guardian. The only UK stories deemed important being that a weather alert, for a period in which there were no problems, has finished, and two (now former) TV people are not friends. Ho hum.

Compare and contrast. The screenshot below is the current BBC News livefeed headline.

The actual quote from the speech - the UK has a "shared responsibility to address irregular migration with humanity, solidarity and firmness".

The framing of this issue always has an agenda.

And more images... I got to walk in these reserves occasionally with the reason/excuse of writing and updating nature and estate guides for visiting education groups. You can find follys such as the Shell House, Greek Temple, around the lakes.

I see @levparikian.bsky.social and others posting nature shots, here are a few from me. Taken at Yorkshire Sculpture Park on Saturday. As well as lots of artwork, there are lakes and all things nature. When I worked there 20 years ago, some areas were restricted access nature reserves.

Helloooo @thebugle.bsky.social's! And @podchris.bsky.social. Going old style, while looking at artist impressions of a new youth activity base in Barnsley, I couldn't help but notice the painted outline at the centre of this image had a certain familiarity...

A blast from @thebugle.bsky.social past, possibly before @podchris.bsky.social time? In our bookstore @thebookvault.bsky.social for an order.

I saw someone else post an image and wanted to check for myself. From their website, Marks & Spencer Love Struck. Yes the chocolate does look like that. Not sure I should tag @thebugle.bsky.social @thegargle.bsky.social but I will anyway. Enjoy!

A real screenshot, of a real live news feed, on the homepage of an (allegedly) real news website. And some wonder why people are turning to other sources, whatever their interest levels or views.

This bookseller only got a couple of signed copies to make sure they did sell, any more will be customer orders only. Any placement of nearby book titles for this image was entirely coincidental.

Hello #musicsky, I'm sure others got this email recently. The cynic in me thinks they are concerned many people are waiting for 'bandcamp Fridays' so artists get all money, and want them to buy at other times so bandcamp gets their cut. No other explanation comes to mind.

Read Tiger Work from Okri which I found mixed, the fiction worked best for me. General themes on climate change, on inaction and it's consequences. One that stood out - people's obsession with what x person stance is on y, in the grand scheme of things minutae, a waste of time and energy.

Very sad to learn of Tony Husband's passing, someone who's work I have enjoyed in Private Eye and elsewhere over the years. Yobs was a strip I always went to. This was recently on Tony's social feed.
