My gut says as long as immigration and asylum are the number one issue for the public then Reform wins the next election comfortably. Labour simply won’t win a political arms race on that subject. Question is can they move tue conversation on?
August 27, 2025 at 9:10 AM
And Starmer’s record on this heavily criticised.

42% think his govt is doing a worse job on immigration than the previous Conservative govt. 23% say it is doing a better job.

Trend is moving in the wrong direction for Labour
August 22, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Perception is rising numbers likely key here. @ipsosintheuk.bsky.social polling shows two thirds think small boat crossings increasing - almost half say increasing a lot.
August 22, 2025 at 1:28 PM
How does salience of immigration as an issue compare to past waves?

48% not as high as record in Sept 15 (pre Brexit)

…but let’s not kid ourselves, concern is high and general trend is up. Unclear where the peak is.
August 22, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Unsurprisingly Immigration most important to Reform UK voters. 84% of this group say it’s an important issue.

What is notable is that growing importance is more driven by increase among Labour & Conservative supporters!

Wrong to say it’s just an issue for Reform supporters.

🚨 New from @ipsosintheuk.bsky.social Our issues index shows immigration the number one issue for the public - with importance growing 🚨

48% say immigration number one issue - up 8 pts from last month

6/ When presented with the concept of a New left party / Green alliance or pact 3 in 10 Brits say they’d consider voting for it (more than the 1/5 considering the new left party alone)

This includes a majority of those aged under 35 and almost half of 2024 Labour voters.
August 20, 2025 at 4:34 PM
5/ What about the Greens though? First chart indicated a fair bit of crossover in terms of appeal for new left party / Greens.

Should there be a pact?

3 in 4 considerers of new left party say yes. As do 6 in 10 Greens…

What does that mean…
August 20, 2025 at 4:34 PM
4/ However, despite large numbers thinking the platform represents positive change, significant doubt exists over when the platform is deliverable,

6 in 10 doubt platform is affordable or would be delivered competently by Corbyn / Sultana party.
August 20, 2025 at 4:34 PM
3/ Interestingly, almost half of Brits (47%) think new left wing party’s platforms represents ‘positive change’. Just 19% say negative.

This includes 7 in 10 of those aged under 35!
August 20, 2025 at 4:34 PM
2/ What parts of the new party’s platform appeal most?

Among those considering the party preventing further privatisation in the NHS, taxing the rich, public ownership of key industries, rent controls and universal free services most appealing parts of potential platform.
August 20, 2025 at 4:34 PM
1/ At a basic level 1 in 5 would ‘consider’ voting for new Corbyn / Sultana party.

This increases to 1 in 3 of those aged under 35

And 1 in 3 Labour voters from last year

Are plus more than 4 in 10 Green voters (more on that later)
August 20, 2025 at 4:34 PM
🚨 1 in 5 Brits say they’d consider voting for new left wing party - including 1 in 3 aged under 35 🚨

New deep dive polling by @ipsosintheuk.bsky.social
looks at how much appeal new Corbyn / Sultana party might have.

I think potentially quite a lot but let’s deep dive 🧵
